Dodie has been in the beauty industry for over 33 years. Owner and operator of Wright Hair & Co. for the last 8. She is coming up to her 10 year anniversary as a Professor at Fanshawe College, teaching in the hairstylist program. Dodie takes inspiring young minds very seriously. She encourages apprenticeship in her salon and has sponsored 8 apprentices in the last 10 years. Aside from working behind the chair everyday and teaching at the college part-time, Dodie is also a professional make-up artist, mastering her craft in bridal, photo shoots for editorial , rogers local television shows and numerous charity events.
Dodie grew up right down the street and currently lives in old south. Raising all 3 of her children( with husband Brian) in the village, has given her strong ties to the community.
One of the things that sets Wright Hair & Co apart, Dodie believes, is, constant education and being involved in industry related events. From attending hair shows, to competing and judging in competitions, to volunteering our services to our favourite charities annually. Dodie's fun-loving personality, and contagious positive energy, will draw you to her chair. Her dedication to her craft will keep you coming back!!!
Ashley has been with Wright Hair &Co. since the beginning, Sept 2009. After attending Fanshawe College in Woodstock, where Dodie and Ashley met. Ash started her apprenticeship and has worked hard over the years to build a large clientelle, while managing the salon.
Ashley has long been a creative and artistic soul and quickly found that hairstyling was her passion. Growing up in the small town of Walkerton, Ashley made the trek to the big city to pursue her dreams. Once settled into life in London, her training progressed and Ashley competed regularly in local and distant competitions. She placed 2nd in SKILLS2011 Ontario, a highly coveted student competition. and then went on to place top 6 in the Toronto Hairapalooza2011. While Ashley is busy with salon life, she still finds time to attend industry related events to hone her skills and living by her motto "there's always something to learn"
Ashley specializes in blondes(just ask any of her blonde clients).
She strongly believes in helping others, whether it be in the salon or in her community. Everyone's got a story to tell. Ashley infectious laugh, and warm heart, will draw you to her chair!
Emilie has been a hairstylist for more than 30 years, graduating from the apprenticeship program at Fanshawe College in London in 1986. Being bilingual in English and Italian, has afforded Emilie the flexibility to converse with many!
Emilie ventured to Montreal for six years to expand her skills and creativity. Back in London, for a few years now, Emilie specialtizes in colour, avant-garde cutting techniques and barbering. Emilie competes regularly in barbering competitions and believes this has honed her skills to perfection. Attending cut and colour seminars regularly to keep her skills fresh and current is a priority for Emilie.
Emilie is confident and always pays great attention to detail. She loves her craft, and it shows in her work as well as in her lighthearted and caring personality.
Spenser has been around the world of hair her entire life. Growing up with her Mom (Dodie), she has always been very comfortable around "hair". Spenser has been a regular fixture at Wright Hair and Co., since the tender age of 16, helping when needed during busy seasons. With this background, she felt the strong pull toward the industry and entered into her apprenticeship the summer of 2017. With a long road ahead of her, working toward her license, Spenser has focused on her high quality MUA skills and been involved in all our wedding, proms, graduations, photo shoots, Rogers TV show, and charity events. Spenser has already started a clientelle with her popular social media pages, and looks forward to growing her skills and knowledge over the next couple of years while perfecting her craft. Spenser has already attended numerous industry related events and looks forward to her first competition at the ABAs, in Spring of 2018.
Meet our junior stylist Julie. After discovering a passion for hair in high school, she began her apprenticeship at Wright Hair & Co. in July of 2016-but really, Julie has been with us much longer- as she has been a client since she was 13. During Julie's apprenticeship, she has taken on her own clients by promoting herself via her popular instagram page. Through self-promoting, Julie has quickly gained a loyal following while still apprenticing and attending Fanshawe. Not only has Julie proven to have the "knack " for hair, she has expanded her skills into the makeup world, and has earned her MUA. Julie specializes in hair colour from platinum blonde to fiery red, and all the colours in between! Julie regularly attends hair shows, while working with the team on rogers tv ,and helping out at all charity events. In addition, she competed at the Toronto ABA New Talent competition in 2017 and plans on entering many more competitions as she builds her career. She believes that personal relationships with clients is one of the most important parts of her job, and has an ear ready to listen! Julie is small but mighty, and you will love her feisty, outgoing personality!
Laura is a recent graduate of the Fanshawe Hairstyling Program. Laura is travelling from the small town of Ingersoll, to the “big” city of London; to begin her apprenticeship at Wright Hair Co. Growing up Laura had a passion for figure skating, dancing and competing, which drew her attention towards hair and make-up. She loves all aspects of hair, and has already received her certification in nano-link & micro link extensions. While attending the program at Fanshawe College, Laura was introduced to Dodie. Dodie took notice in Laura for her hard work and dedication during her time in school and once the semester came to an end Dodie offered Laura a part-time apprenticeship at Wright Hair & co. We all here at Wright Hair & co cannot wait to watch Laura grow into an amazing hair stylist and join along in on her journey here!
Meet our Esthetician Carol! She is certified with CIDESCO, which is an international Advanced Esthetics Certification. Carol graduated with honors 15 years ago. She also has a secret knack for both beauty and special effects makeup. She managed esthetics in Toronto and back in her hometown Montreal! Carol was awarded Brickenden for Evil Dead The Musical.
Having a background in science, it's no surprise Carol specializes in skincare. With this knowledge she is able to customize treatments for any individual. Carol prides herself on integrity of product and service using organic, cruelty free and vegan when available. She is known to be a Brazillian ninja with minimal ouch! Carol is split evenly between science and art.
